Standard Life Investments has launched a Sicav version of its Global Equity Unconstrained strategy, to mirror the existing Oeic strategy that launched in January 2007.
The move comes in response to international investor demand for the strategy, the manager said.
Over the five years to the end of 2014, the fund returned 86.7% against a benchmark return of 64.4%, the manager quotes Morningstar data.
The Oeic fund has been managed since June 2010 by Michael Zverev, head of Global Equities, with a mandate to provide long term growth by investing in a diversified portfolio of global equity assets.
Zverev said: “Global equities provide a wide and diverse opportunity set for investors looking to generate high alpha in their equity allocations whilst investors in our unconstrained strategy reap the benefits of the benchmark agnostic portfolio. We believe that this sheer breadth of stock selection opportunity, our high conviction approach, and the scale of analytical resource we have available at Standard Life Investments, places us in a prime position to produce strong returns for our clients. I’m delighted that overseas investors will now also be able to benefit from this proven approach.”
SLI’s global equity team consists of some 60 equity investors, based in Edinburgh and Boston, but which also shares insights with the manager’s corporate bond, real estate and strategy teams, as well as with SLI strategic partner Sumitomo Mitsui Trust Bank in Japan.
