Following the resignation of Manfred Knof as head of Germany at Allianz, the German insurance giant has now confirmed that Klaus-Peter Röhler (pictured), previously head of Allianz Italy, will take on his role.
The decision has been backed unanimously at a board meeting of Allianz Germay yesterday, which also appointed Giacomo Campora to head the group’s Italy business.
Knof will leave the group at the end of the year, citing health issues as reason for his departure.
However, the tense relationship between Allianz CEO Oliver Bäte and Knof may have influenced Knof’s decision to leave the firm, as reported earlier.
Röhler has been chief executive officer of Allianz Italy since Janaury 2014, prior to that, he worked among others as chairman of the board at Allianz Suisse. He has been with the group since 1996.
