Investec Asset Management has reinforced its presence in Italy with the hire of Gianluca Maione as country head and Elena Baccani as sales manager.
These appointments support Investec’s growing international footprint and global client base and underline its commitment to the European market, the asset manager said.
Gianluca Maione joins from Morgan Stanley Investment Management where he spent 13 years. Most recently, in the role of executive director, he was responsible for business development, distribution and product training with a focus on the Italian intermediary business including wrapped products, private banking and financial advisor networks.
Elena Baccani joins from Aberdeen Asset Management where her experience focused on marketing and business development.
“Gianluca brings tremendous experience in client relationship management and we are excited about the contribution he will make to our team and to our clients,” said Stef Bogaars, managing director of Investec’s European Client Group.
“Adding Elena’s experience will add further strength to our ability to provide effective, timely client service in a market where we are excited to engage with a growing client base,” Bogaars said.
Investec’s AUM totaled almost $110bn by the end May 2016. In Italy, the asset manager offers a range of products with a total of 31 funds authorised in the Italian market.
