Santander Asset Management (SAM) has appointed Oriana Mezini as an emerging market equity analyst thus strengthening the firm’s fund selection team.
Mezini, who joins the Manager Research and Selection team headed by José María Martínez-Sanjuán, will be based in London.
With 12 years’ experience as an emerging market equity, fixed income and real estate fund manager and analyst, Mezini joins Santander AM from Coutts Bank, where she worked as associate director, fund research for emerging markets, Asia-Pacific and Japan since 2016.
Prior to that, she was a senior fund analyst at Allfunds Bank, an analyst at Bank of Butterfield and an equity performance analyst at Threadneedle Investments. She also worked at Aviva Investors and Henderson Global Investors.
Santander Asset Management has made four hires to its fund selection team in recent months.
Cipriano Sancho and Ángel Lara joined the team in Madrid as alternative strategy and absolute return analysts, while Wee-Tsen Lee and Pryesh Emrith joined the selection team in the UK. In total, there are 10 team members of whom five work at the SAM offices in London and five in Madrid managing and supervising globally some €46bn.
The strengthening of its local and global teams, along with the improvement of the capabilities of SAM worldwide, are part of the strategy established by the new Santander Wealth Management Division headed by Víctor Matarranz.
