SEB gains regional boost through new HK licence

Swedish bank SEB has received its banking licence from Hong Kong, which will enable it to start serving clients locally, in addition to its other Asian offices.

Swedish bank SEB has received its banking licence from Hong Kong, which will enable it to start serving clients locally, in addition to its other Asian offices.

SEB will serve corporate clients and global financial institutions active in the Asian region, as well as Asian institutionsl looking for international diversification, the bank said.

Carl Christensson, head of SEB in Hong Kong, added: “The Asian Market is of growing importance for an increasing number of our clients. Coincidentely Hong Kong has developed into one of the world’s financial centers and this license will further strengthen SEB’s presence in the region.”

The bank has been active in Asia for more than three decades. Existing offices are located in Beijing, Singapore, Shanghai and New Delhi.
