HSBC Alternative Investments Limited has hired Tim Williams as head of Real Estate Investment, responsible for running the direct real estate investment activities for advisory clients, club deals and managing the existing direct property investments for HSBC’s clients.
Based in London, Williams will report to Guy Morrell, head of Real Estate Investment for HSBC Global Asset Management, and locally to Steven Ward, CEO of HSBC Alternative Investments Limited.
Williams was previously at CBRE where he spent the last 16 years as a senior director in the investment team.
Another addition to HSBC’s real estate investment team is Sonal Saluja, joining from property advisory firm 90 North Real Estate Partners and who will report to Williams.
Guy Morrell, head of Real Estate Investment, HSBC Global Asset Management, said: “These significant hires form part of a strategic initiative to strengthen further our direct property investment capabilities. This initiative, in which Tim and Sonal will play a key role, is in response to identified client demand for physical property investments. We are seeking to expand our existing direct property offering to HSBC’s clients, which complements our existing global investment capabilities in listed property equities and unlisted direct property funds.”
HSBC group had $2.52trn of assets under management as of 30 September 2017.
