Schroders has strengthened its newly renamed Schroders Systematic Investments (SSI) team with the appointment of Philipp Kauer as senior quantitative investment specialist.
Kauer has joined in a newly created role as quantitative portfolio manager, bringing his alpha-generating expertise to Schroders’ clients by looking to harvest consistent factor-based returns from markets.
He will report into Ashley Lester, head of Multi-Asset Research and Systematic Investments.
SSI, which was formerly known as Schroders Advanced Beta unit, sits within Schroders’ Multi-Assets Investments division.
It manages £8bn across a range of strategies, predominantly on behalf of institutional clients globally, including pension funds, sovereign wealth funds, charities and insurance companies.
SSI is dedicated to bringing high-quality systematic, factor-based strategies to clients, including the GBP4 billion Global Multi-Factor Equity strategy, launched last year, and the Sustainable Multi-Factor Equity fund, which was launched last month.
Kauer, who has over 23 years of quantitative investment experience, joins from Man AHL where he was a portfolio manager and senior quantitative researcher, focused on multi-factor and risk premia investing across asset classes.
He has also worked at Salomon Brothers, Credit Suisse and Brevan Howard.
