Allianz Global Investors has made available to Spanish investors the Ucits-compliant version of its Global Water fund.
Allianz Global Water Strategy is an equity fund focusing on the solutions needed to ensure global water supply, including innovation, technology and infrastructure.
The US version of the fund has a 10-year track record and is led by the fund manager Andreas Fruschki, who will also oversee the Ucits version of the fund.
The strategy, ESG-focused, aims at benefiting itself from the potential of those businesses tackling water shortage and its quality problems.
“Since there is an ongoing structural imbalance between the supply and the demand of fresh water, investments need to be made as soon as possible to improve water technologies and existing infrastructures. Population growth, urbanisation, and the increase of per capital use of water explain partly the growing demand of drinking water,” says AllianzGI.
“Although rain water is free, clean tap water is not. Supplying water to a city or an agricultural area involves large investments. Our strategy aims to invest in companies helping to tackle water shortage and its lack of quality. These companies will have a positive impact on the lives of millions of people,” comments the fund’s manager Andreas Fruschki.
