The asset management division of the Spanish group Santalucía has been renamed as Santalucía Asset Management following the completion of the merger process of the Group's two managers Santalucía Gestión and Alpha Plus Gestora.
Santalucía Asset Management, with over €5bn in assets under management of which €1.85bn belong to funds and over €3bn to pension plans' mandates, is led by Gonzalo Meseguer, an industry veteran with 25 years' financial experience.
Meseguer joins Santalucía Group from BBVA Asset Management where he worked as marketing and commercial director since 2011, responsible for promoting the sale of the manager's investment funds and pension plans through the bank's internal network. Prior to that, Meseguer worked at the insurer MetLife.
He also worked at various banking entities including Citibank Spain - where he held different positions as that of responsible for the wealth management and insurance division of the entity - or Banco Santander as director of marketing for international private banking.
Santalucía AM's investment team is split between the equity area, which is led by Mikel Navarro; the fixed income team run by Ignacio Díez; and the mixed funds and absolute return team led by Ignacio Martín.
The manager offers, in addition to its range of own funds, open architecture to its clients through the Discretionary Portfolio Management (GDC) service and its range of profiled funds.
Although Santalucía AM is mostly oriented to retail investors, it does not rule out institutional clients. Its main distribution channel will be the commercial network of the Santalucía Group.
