Vontobel Asset Management has appointed Carl Vermassen as portfolio manager to the Emerging Markets Fixed Income team .
Vermassen will be responsible for managing the Sustainable Emerging Market Local Currency Bond Fund alongside Thierry Larose, with whom he had previously worked at Degroof Petercam.
With over 25 years' industry experience, he joins Vontobel Asset Management from the asset management division of Degroof Petercam in Brussels, where he was portfolio manager of the Emerging Market Sustainable Bonds fund alongside Thierry Larose.
Larose, who launched the first sustainable emerging market bond fund in 2013, joined Vontobel in 2018. In the past, rating agencies have recognized Thierry's exceptional record of accomplishment by awarding him with first quartile rankings and performance awards in the category emerging market bond in local currency, Vontobel reported.

Vontobel's experience in emerging market debt goes back to 1997. The company has continued to innovate and expand its offering, leading to the creation of five actively managed strategies, including Emerging Markets Corporate Bonds, Emerging Markets Debt in Hard Currency, Sustainable Emerging Markets Debt, Emerging Markets Blend and Eastern European Debt. Vontobel's emerging market debt team currently manages over $3bn of assets under management.
