Richard House, CIO for Emerging Markets Debt at Allianz Global Investors, will discuss how to promote sustainability within EMD portfolios when he takes part in the upcoming Oslo Roundtable, which is being hosted by InvestmentEurope at the Grand Hotel on 5 June.
Wiht the impact of ESG risks are becoming increasingly understood by investors across all asset classes, House will focus on the implications to creditworthiness of EM sovereign debt away from the macroeconomic indicators that have been historically been relied upon.
He will argue that ESG factors should be considered alonside macroeconomic factors, as they are linked in determining long term economic development, which in turn plays a key role in determining creditworthiness.
House joined Allianz GI in June 2018, and has been CIO of EMD since September that year. Previously, he was head of EMD and a portfolio manager at Standard Life Investments, and before that a portfolio manager and head of EMD at Threadneedle Investment Services.
Other roles include being an emerging market portfolio manager and trader at Wadhwani Asset Management, and a portfolio manager at HSBC responsible for managing a listed emerging market debt fund. He began his investment career in 1994 as an emerging market analyst and portfolio manager at Lombard Odier Asset Management. He has an Honours degree in Economics and Computer Science and an MSc in Finance and Investment.
