Julius Baer continues expanding across Spain with the opening of an office in Barcelona following the launch of its Madrid office in 2013.
The opening highlights the firm's commitment to the Spanish market, where it has already over 60 employees and plans to increase the figure.
The firm has appointed four senior private bankers to the new office and has announced its plans to hire more of these professionals with the aim to offer a closer financial advisory and wealth management service in the region of Catalonia.
José Ángel Oliver brings to the entity over three decades of wealth management experience, gathered at firms like Banif (Santander Private Banking), Lloyds, Citi and UBS.
Roberto Murgui also joined the financial industry around 30 years ago working at Lloyds Bank. He later worked at various companies including UBS and Citibank Private in Barcelona.
Josep Rocadembosch, with over two decades of private banking experience in the Spanish sector, worked before at companies including Sabadell, Banif and UBS.
Carlos Vítores joins the private bankers' team in Barcelona after having worked over 13 years at Credit Suisse.
Carlos Recoder, responsible for Julius Baer in Western Europe, said: "This opening responds to our expansion plans in Spain, one of our key markets where we have identified great potential for the business. Hence we are investing in the country by offering a comprehensive and tailored service aimed at satisfying our clients' needs in the region."
