Edmond de Rothschild Asset Management has made senior appointments and announced the following promotions: Benjamin Melman, previously CIO Asset Allocation and Sovereign Debt, has been appointed global CIO Asset Management. He will supervise all Edmond de Rothschild Asset Management's investment teams and will join the Group's Asset Management Executive Committee.
The investment platform is now organised around 4 sub-investment divisions: Asset Allocation & Sovereign Debt, Equity, Fixed Income, SRI: Michaël Nizard takes the responsibility of the Asset Allocation and Sovereign Debt division, Christophe Foliot and Jacques-Aurélien Marcireau take the responsibility of the Equity division, Jean-Philippe Desmartin continues to lead the SRI team with a cross-functional approach across the large spectrum of the asset classes managed, Alain Krief will join the Edmond de Rothschild Group overseeing the Fixed Income division.
In his new role, Krief will take on the responsibility of both Corporate Debt and Convertible Bonds expertise from 1 July 2019. His extensive experience as well as excellent track record represent a key asset for our investment management platform.
The other appointments are effective immediately.
Melman joined the Edmond de Rothschild Group in 2006 as head of Allocation, Structured and Quantitative Investments. In 2009, he was appointed head of Absolute Return before becoming head of Asset Allocation and Sovereign Debt in 2012. He was appointed CIO Asset Allocation and Sovereign Debt in 2018. He started his career in 1995 as an economist at CDC Gestion before joining Crédit Lyonnais in 1998 in the same role. In 2000, he was appointed head of Investment Strategy at Crédit Lyonnais Asset Management and in 2002 at Crédit Agricole Asset Management.
Nizard joined Edmond de Rothschild in May 2008 as a fund manager specialised in derivative instruments to reinforce our asset allocation capabilities. He was appointed deputy CIO Asset Allocation and Sovereign Debt since February 2019. He first worked as an interest rate and derivatives trader at the Caisse des Dépôts et Consignations. He then spent 5 years at Ixis AM before moving to Société Générale Corporate & Investment Banking where he was co-head of Global Macro Proprietary Trading.
Foliot joined Edmond de Rothschild in 2003 as a US Equity fund manager. He has since run international equity funds and in 2008 was appointed head of US and International Equities. He started his career in 1994 at Knight-Ridder Inc in New York in the financial research department. In 1995, he joined the Banque Vernes as a buy-side analyst before moving in 1999 to BNP Paribas Asset Management, where has was a buy-side analyst and then head of fundamental equity investing in the North American zone.
Marcireau joined Edmond de Rothschild in March 2009 as a US and International Equity analyst. In October 2018, he was appointed co-head of International equities and deputy head of Equities with a transversal innovation brief.
Desmartin joined our Group in September 2016 as head of Responsible Investment team. He started his career in 1993 in the financial engineering department at Crédit du Nord. From 1997 to 1999, he was a project manager at the Alpha Group before moving to the extra-financial agency ARESE as Head of Development. In 2003, he was a director at Innovest and then in 2004 founded his own consultancy business, Desmartin Conseil. From 2005, he was head of ESG (Environment, Social and Governance) research at Oddo Securities.
Krief started his career as a consultant at Andersen Consulting and then became IT project head at Crédit Lyonnais. He then worked as a trader at Crédit Lyonnais before becoming head of High Yield Europe at Crédit Lyonnais Asset Management/Crédit Agricole Asset Management. In 2005, he joined BNP Paribas Asset Management where he held several major positions including co-head of Total Return portfolios, head of High Yield Europe and global head of Credit Investments. In 2012, Krief joined Oddo BHF AM as head of Fixed Income & Convertibles.
