Neuberger Berman, the independent employee-owned asset manager, has gained A+ scores across multiple categories in the UN PRI assessment report of ESG integration efforts.
The top marks came for its approach to ESG strategy and governance, and ESG integration across all relevant asset classes. The marks put the manager above hte median in all the categories rated, and signals an ongoing improvement to the scores in recent years (see table), particularly in corporate non-financial fixed income and private equity, while this year it attained an A+ for its approach to active ownership in listed equity.
Jonathan Bailey, head of ESG investing at Neuberger Berman, said: "As a signatory to the UN-supported Principles for Responsible Investment since 2012, we are very pleased that our firm has received top scores across all categories in the most recent assessment report of our ESG integration efforts. This industry recognition reflects the work of our analysts and portfolio managers across the firm to seamlessly integrate our ESG philosophy and proprietary ESG ratings systems across asset classes. We believe that focusing on financially material ESG factors makes us better stewards of our clients' precious capital."
