Investec Asset Management's Blake Hutchins is set to join Troy Asset Management as co-manager on a number of equity income mandates, Investment Week has revealed.
Hutchins will join Troy as co-manager alongside Francis Brooke and Hugo Ure on the Trojan Income fund, Troy Income & Growth trust, Trojan Ethical Income fund and various other mandates. He will be made co-manager on the Trojan Income fund
Hutchins has spent almost five years at Investec after joining from Columbia Threadneedle alongside Simon Brazier in 2014.
The Investec UK Equity Income fund was set up in February 2015 for him to run and has since raised £125m as well as returning 22% over the past three years to 9 August, versus the Investment Association UK All Companies sector average of 18%, according to FE.
Investment Week also understands Ben Needham who has worked with Hutchins on the fund since launch, will take over as manager. He has worked at Investec AM for nine years.
Troy's Brooke said: "We have seen significant growth in our UK equity income franchise in recent years not only in the Trojan Income fund, Troy Income & Growth trust and Trojan Ethical Income fund but across a number of other income mandates.
"Blake's high-quality stock picking and risk averse investment style is very complementary to our own. I am delighted to welcome him to Troy and the team."
