Nordea appoints new CEO, COO

Christian Clausen is to leave his role as CEO of Nordea by 1 November this year as the bank’s board has announced the appointment of both a new CEO as well as a new COO.

Casper von Koskull will become president and group CEO, and Torsten Hagen Jørgensen will become group COO and deputy CEO.

Von Koskull has previously been a managing director at Goldman Sachs based in London.

Jørgensen has been group CFO at Nordea since January 2013.

The changes were announced by Björn Wahlroos, chairman of the board of directors at Nordea. He also said that Clausen would remain as an adviser to Nordea until the end of 2016, and join the board of Sampo, the Finnish financial services firm that is the biggest shareholder in Nordea.

Wahlroos himself is listed as the third biggest shareholder in Sampo, with over 2% of shares in the group.

Sampo’s 21.1% shareholding in Nordea means that it reports Nordea as an “associated company” in its own accounts.
